Transformation
A transformation is under way in leading companies and organizations world-wide. A new focus is being placed on ideas and innovation. There is no switch you turn on or off, but innovation is a natural and continuous process in all phases of organizational development. Some employees struggle with challenges, others may have potential solutions, while others have great ideas, but don’t know where or how to communicate them.
The real challenge for many organizations is that a lot of ideas and innovations go nowhere. There’s lots of experimentation going on, but organizational barriers often prevent the adoption of efficient corporate innovation methodology. Many companies talk about innovation, and those who are more visionary even talk about “open innovation.” But the reality is that very few companies, even those often named as “most innovative,” have adopted a formal company-wide innovation system.
Companies wouldn’t think about operating their business without key management systems in place. For example, virtually every company has formal Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems in place. Then why is it that these same companies, will try and manage their key innovation pipeline without a formal innovation system?
When company executives are questioned by leading analysts and consultants, the answer becomes clear. They consistently say that they have not been able to indentify an innovation system that delivers on the promise of “open innovation.” They are unwilling to invest in partial solutions that only address the front-end (pre-decision phase) of the innovation process. Most importantly, they realize that using closed proprietary project management software to manage the post-decision (implementation) phase of the innovation process completely negates the benefits of true “open innovation.”
Induct overcomes these limitations and allows companies to continue the transformation process towards “open innovation.” Our software is based on creating a virtual Innovation Community,™ where all employees contribute with their knowledge, experience, and ability, to utilize and fully maximize their talents. Companies can invite people outside the organization to participate on specific ideas, or become a member of the Innovation Community with full access rights. The art of combining the elements from existing virtual communities with functionality and design to support efficient innovation processes, quality management, documentation, portfolio management, and measure key innovation processes, is what sets Induct apart from other innovation solutions.
